The National Reined Cow Horse Association has announced that the 2003 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity will be a day longer that the 2002 event, with the dates set for September 23-October 5.
According to NRCHA President Ted Robinson, the extra day was added because of the growth of the event.
“That is a great problem to have,” commented Robinson, himself a six-time champion of the Snaffle Bit Futurity. “The growth in number of entries and participation gave us two choices. Either we choose to go to much longer days for the preliminary rounds or we could add a day. Adding the day allows us to keep the futurity schedule at the point where you don’t wear yourself completely out trying to show there.”
The 13-day schedule also allows exhibitors and attendees ample time to enjoy the fun at Reno and nearby Lake Tahoe.
Another change for 2003 is the switch to having the non-pro finals, formerly held on Friday, on Saturday. Limited and intermediate finals will be held on Friday.
