Horses get aching backs and sore muscles just like humans. You can make your horse feel better just by sitting down at your computer.
You can learn equine massage online at home, start at any time, study at your own pace, and earn a non-credit college certificate of recognition.
Then if you want to go professional, test out for “certification” by Equisport Therapy.
Students can register immediately with Arizona’s Scottsdale Community College non-credit divisions at 480/423-6305 and Paradise Valley Community College at 602/787-6800. The course, instructed by Sue Davis, certified sports massage therapist, is administered by Success Is Easy, the leader in online horse courses.
“This is a unique educational opportunity,” said Don Blazer, president of Success Is Easy. “Students around the world can enroll and participate. Once registered, students are emailed an introduction to Equine Massage, given an explanation of how best to take the course and the first lesson, which they can begin studying immediately,” he said.
Equine Sports Massage Level One teaches the technique of equine massage to enhance muscle performance while releasing stress and negative energy.
The course covers the horse’s superficial muscles and their functions, and explains how to detect problems, according to Davis, who has been performing equine massage for nearly a decade. She has clients throughout the United States.
Once enrolled, a student can contact Davis by email if he or she needs any special assistance or help with a specific problem.
“Students will learn finger and thumb pressure use, plus side of hand and kneading techniques,” Davis said. She frequently holds clinics on equine massage and has become well-known for her innovative techniques.
The seven-lesson course includes muscle study, full-color charts and demonstration photos. Students can view and study the course online, save the course on their computer or download the lesson as hard copy.
“Anyone and any horse owner or rider of any horse can benefit from this course,” Davis says. “And for the student seeking a career in equine massage, this is the quickest, easiest way to get started.”
Once the student receives the certificate or recognition from the college, the student may apply to “test out” certification by Equisport Therapy. The two-day test out procedure will be offered four times a year. Students are responsible for their own test out travel expenses.
The cost of the online college course is $275. The cost of the test out is $150.
At the end of each lesson, the student will take a true-false quiz and be required to answer procedure questions. Davis will respond to each quiz and test scores, comments and suggestions.
Training Performance Horses and Coat Color Genetics are two popular online courses offered by Success Is Easy.
