Ohio Girls Barrel Racing Association

Happy Easter everyone!! Does anyone even have an ‘Easter Bonnet’ anymore?? As my kids have gotten older and ‘coloring eggs’ has gotten boring, besides the fact that THEY don’t eat them; I guess we will be bypassing doing that this year. I am going to miss the quality time together...everyone griping about who’s egg is in THEIR color!! Oh well, maybe we can spend time on a trail ride? We are hoping for a beautiful weekend for whatever!

Flag class news: OGBRA is now allowing men to receive points in Down & Back Flags!! Membership is open to men in this event only. We ask that those who have family memberships would like to review “the men in their life’s” status as members IF they would like to be eligible for points. Please verify that their names are listed as members.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the extra flag bucket and flags, please let Beth Weaver know.
Spring general meeting was February 25, 1:00pm at Riverside Acres Tack Shop, St. Marys, Ohio. We greatly appreciate those who took some of their valuable time to attend. Summary of meeting notes: Discussed date and place of Matches. Noted that we did inform Indiana of problem with dates vs. CONGRESS but guess we were overruled.

September 4, noted as cut off for Matches. Passed list of shows around. Noted that we have not heard from Lima shows and ZimmCo yet. Went over spring show budget. Discussed tabling need for fall show till after results are in from Spring show. Noted that maybe a facility that costs less might be needed. Discussed that members must work two classes (equaling 2 hours) to receive a stall at cost. We must do this to make sure we keep our funds in the black. Discussed that quite a few people working don’t even use stalls and that we could use exhibitions as incentive. The membership liked that idea but it was noted that we needed to get ahead a little before we start giveaways. Membership hoped that ALL members would realize that we need everyone’s help here. Discussed noting that any raffles at our events should be approved by us. Flag class was discussed. Group decided that we would like to keep this as a point class. Beth suggested option of allowing men to be members to be eligible for points in this class. Also, discussed changing this class to Indiana style flags. Membership voted to tentatively opening the Down & Back Flags to men as members for points. They will not be eligible for all around award. This situation will be reviewed at the fall meeting. Discussed family membership’s of those couples not living under the same roof and Membership decided that it would be appropriate to have separate memberships in this case. Meeting adjourned.

OGBRA Thanks Riverside Acres for the use of their facility for our meeting! We appreciate it.

Thank you’s are a very nice way to improve sponsor relationships. If you have been fortunate enough to win a donated award either at year-end or at a show...it would be the RIGHT thing to do to acknowledge your appreciation through a Thank You note. Have you?

Pee Wee’s would like to thank the winner of their card raffle March 3: Mike Keiser for donating his winnings BACK to the Pee Wee’s. Thank you Mike!!

OGBRA suggests that show committees avoid conflicts in dates by MAKING SURE you have a show approval sheet in our HANDS. This is the only way dates will be approved! Only one show may be approved per day. Dates will NOT be held. For OGBRA information or show approval forms...please contact LeAnn Detrick-Latham 419/738-2731, Rene’ Hefner 419/331-0486, or Beth Weaver 937/548-3458. For point standings, please check with Lindsay Gehl. The Ohio Girls Barrel Racing Association reminds members that OGBRA books are available to any member upon request.
